Another significant benefit of juicing is all the leftover pulp. This is a natural by-product of juicing. The juice contains concentrated amounts of nutrients; the pulp retains the fibre and a substantial amount of the nutrients as well.
Put it into cakes and slices – re-use pineapple and apple pulp in our home made cakes or fruit slice.
Pulp is great for garden compost – except citrus.
Put pulp to worm and pig farms – they both love it!
In the winter it is great in porridge – especially apple as it gives a great flavour and excellent amount of fibre
Concerned about extra fibre, add a teaspoon of the fibre to your juice – stir it in and sip away!
Also put left over grated carrot fibre into the evening meal – kids won’t notice ad it is very good for them.
Pulp is great in frozen desserts, soups, sauces, casseroles, vegetable stock, dressings, baked goods, salads and many other dishes. Pulp can be stored in the fridge if used within a day. Otherwise freeze in 2 cup quantities for later use.

Current Juicing Trends – Juicing is not just for the pretty ladies.
Over the last seventeen years of making juice at festivals in the UK and Australia, there has been a significant shift in juicing trends. In the late 90’s when Passion 4 Juice was founded at festivals in Australia the most common customers were health conscious young women. When Passion 4 Juice expanded and started juicing at music festivals in the UK, the trend was similar.
Juicing at a wide range of festivals, steam rallies and sporting events presented a similar experience. It was common for middle aged guys to approach the award winning colourful juice bars, look slightly confused and ask ‘what is it?’ Upon discovering it was a juice bar serving organic veggie juice sensations many would run for cover at the nearest beer tent or bravely ask for an orange juice.
Times certainly have changed. With the help of films like Joe Cross’s “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”, Jason Vale’s “Super Juice Me” and the success of the Natural Juice Junkie, now we see men of all ages getting into the juicing way of life. It is common to see middle aged men confidently order the ‘Detox Special’ with organic beetroot, celery, carrot, apple and ginger.
At Bestival, The Radio One Festival recently held on the Isle of Wight, a regular Passion 4 Juice customer said he missed his juice fix at Boomtown Fair. His name is Max. He was gutted that Passion 4 Juice took a year off Boomtown. He lives Passion4juice! Like the man says, re-hydration, nutrients, no Chewing required. Max partied hard at Bestival and he swears that passion 4 Juice saves him at all his favourite festivals. It seems that the juice movement is not just for the pretty girls.
What is your favourite festival? Passion 4 Juice can be found at regular festivals in the UK including Glastonbury, Womad, Fieldview, Barn on the Farm, Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, End of the Road and Bestival. If you would like to see this award winning juice business at more festivals then get in touch. via social media. Connect on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
How to make a dairy free, a healthy chocolate milkshake the whole family will love – dairy free, sugar free.
Adding extra goodness to your smoothies and juice is easy and very worthwhile for added health benefits. Here is an extensive list of power supplements that are natural, whole foods. I use a range of extracts and concentrated herbs, tinctures and ground foods to boost the immune system and increase energy.
Start with 1 tbsp. Cacao, 1 litre of water, a few cubes of ice and 1 banana. This is the basis for a great milkshake. It depends on who is drinking this. If you are trying to get more veg into your kids add a handful of spinach – more than likely they won’t even notice. Cacao is an unprocessed ground chocolate powder. It is full of flavonoids, which act as natural antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the body from ageing and disease caused by free radicals. Cacao has also been found to help regulate blood pressure and reduce cholesterol while building the immune system. It is also rich in magnesium, an energy mineral and vital electrolyte. Cacao is rich in minerals and lowers cholesterol.

If you are working out and sweeting a lot, himalayan rock salt is a natural salt, it is harvested in mountains in Pakistan and is prized for its nutritional content and the fact that it is unprocessed. It also contains 60 to 65 trace minerals and can help keep your blood pressure in check as well as aiding in cardiovascular function.
If you are like me and want abundant energy, are busy and trying to jam a lot into your day then throw the lot in. Post lunch it is a fantastic way to stay energised, vibrant and buzzing for the entire day.
Listen to your body it has your best interests at heart!
Your body wants to heal and be healthy. It whispers a long time before it starts to shout. Whispers are things like not sleeping well. Being constipated, feeling tired all the time, swollen fingers, puffy eyes, brain fog, feeling irritable, sore back, aching joints, bloated stomach, headaches, migraines, sore knees, constriction of your throat, constant cough after eating, throat irritation, menopausal symptoms – the list goes on. You want to do something about these whispers before the body starts to shout.
Hydration, hydration, hydration. The body is 75% water, all the organs and systems run on water, without sufficient water the body gets stressed. That means water, freshly pressed vegetable or fruit juices and herbal teas NOT tea, coffee, green tea, fizzy drinks, concentrated fruit juice or alcohol – they dehydrate and create stress.
Make time for juices and smoothies – if you own a juicer it needs to be kept our on your bench near the fruit bowl – not at the back of the cupboard. It will be one more excuse not to use it.
Get enough sleep – that means going to bed early enough to enjoy a long restful sleep – staying on a screen til the late hours will disrupt your hormones and create stress. The human body is designed to go to sleep at 9pm and wake at 5am. It’s only with the advent of electricity and television that we’ve altered our lifestyle and chosen to go to bed later. Sleep is vital to keeping the body in a healthful, balanced state. These functions take place between 9pm and midnight and if you regularly miss that sleep cycle your body is physiologically stressed and will become exhausted.
Exercise – I like to fit in exercise as part of doing something else – carrying lots of fruit and working outdoors is a natural part of my job. I like walking the kids to school or riding to work. Exercise just for the sake of it can seem boring especially if you are new to it. It doesn’t need to be formal, overactive or competitive, a daily walk of half an hour is sufficient. If you are doing as part of another daily routine activity then it is a bonus and can easily become a habit – plus if you decide to walk or ride to work you wont get half way there and think ‘Oh I cant be bothered’ – you have to get there.
Find healthy alternatives to your favourite foods. If you have a sweet tooth, try to make healthy sugar free alternatives. Bliss balls are so easy to make and are a good go to for healthy snacks for the whiole family. You can watch how easy they are to make here
Have fun in the kitchen and make some mess. So many people are too scared to try new recipes, dishes or equipment. If you are unsure take a short course, watch on youtube and get your family involved. My kids love looking through recipes books for weekly meal plans and setting a challenge. Make it fun and interactive.
One of the best time saving tips for busy people is to batch make juices, smoothies and even vegetable prep. Choose 1 day a week where you will chop, prep, juice, blend and freeze. Being healthy and making healthy choices is about being prepared and not getting caught out when you are tired and hungry.
Try and add more raw to your diet – have a look at your plate and ask – what is raw? A little bit of salad on the plate or a freshly made juice with each meal can add another 5 servings of living food to your diet. It also means you will be getting more enzymes – they are catalysts for digestion and if they are present in the food you are eating your body won’t have to make them. You will feel more energised. Eating cooked food all the time makes your food harder to digest and can leave you feeling tired and depleted.
Do what you love and love what you do. Life is far too short to be dissatisfied. Work out what your passion is and JFDI! It will give you energy, inspiration and leaving you feeling happy and grateful to be alive.
